Peony Chinese Cuisine offers a straightforward, no-frills experience for those looking to enjoy classic Chinese dishes in the Lake Elsinore area. Situated inside the busy Walmart shopping center on Grape Street, it’s a convenient spot for both dine-in lunches and takeout, making it a practical choice for office workers, shoppers, and local families.

The atmosphere feels modest and functional rather than flashy, with ample seating and a clean interior that serves its purpose well during busy lunch hours. You won’t find a bustling crowd here typically; rather, quieter midday visits seem common, providing a relaxed pace where staff stay attentive and accommodating. This makes it a reliable option if you’re after a quick, filling meal without the fuss.

The menu leans on tried-and-true Chinese-American favorites like Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, and Hot and Sour Soup, with some interesting additions such as Sizzling Rice Soup and Orange Tofu. Portion sizes tend to be generous, which suits those planning to bring leftovers home. Though some guests prefer their own rice prepared at home, the food arrives consistently seasoned and familiar — fitting well for anyone who appreciates a solid, comforting takeout or lunch spot.

While the overall vibe is casual, Peony caters best to practical diners: locals dropping in during a shopping run, families wanting a quick meal, or coworkers grabbing a sensible lunch. The service is generally friendly, and the restaurant’s location next to a nail salon makes it part of a small cluster of everyday errands for many in the neighborhood.

Given its placement inside a larger retail center, evenings might be quieter, so midday or early dinner hours are likely when you’ll find the liveliest scene. There are mixed notes from customers regarding pricing and occasional hygiene concerns during busy takeout rushes, so visiting during less hectic times might offer a more relaxed experience.

OK now time for my review. I’ve gone here several times in the past because my husband liked it and their fried rice has been really good but the few times that I ordered to go I was watching the cook dropping our egg rolls with no gloves on into the fryer not sanitary and has made me hesitant in going back. Also, there’s hardly ever anyone in there I think that says a lot from my own personal experience when I have gone in there, I’ve only ever ordered the egg rolls and fried rice I feel they are definitely overpriced compared to other Pho restaurants or whatever you want to label the restaurant And I have brought food home and has spilled all over inside the bag. I give this place a 6 out of 10. Haven’t been in a while so rating can change based on sanitary and pricing. I have dined in and have had take out. They are always quick to take your order but mostly because no one is in there at least like I said when I’ve gone.

We ALWAYS stop at Peony for dinner or take out whenever we visit our Sis-In-Law in the area. Their food is WONDERFUL & they provide enough that we can have leftovers the next night. I will say that we do prefer making our own rice if we order take out because we prefer our rice a bit "stickier". But Peony is always a highlight of our visits to Wildomar!!!

Great place but way over priced. They have great food, I don't want to take that from them. But man Chinese food is known to be cheap food I would know my wife is Chinese. She likes the food to buy said it's hard to pay these prices.

Good food! Great lunch time place to go! We got a lot of food for so little. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. They provided everything we needed for a lunch feast! Bathrooms were clean too, tons of seating as well. It’s located in the Lake Elsinore WalMart shopping center, next door to Lucy’s nail bar.

Still my favorite Chinese restaurant not just in the area but anywhere. Great food. We love the Mongolian beef, the chicken cashew and the garlic shrimp but there are lots of choices. We can get several meals from what we take home after dining in. Nice people, good service.

My family and I love this place. We show up with a tribe of kids ready to get our grub on. We are greeted at the door with smiles. The staff are truly happy to see us and always accommodate our very large family. The food is great and all of our kiddos are very happy to come and never complain about the food. Besides the food being awesome, the staff being friendly and attentive to our needs, the place is very clean. Thanks you guys for the excellent service. It is always a pleasure and we look forward to the next time.
